Blog has travel sickness
In an effort to race away from Host Gator hosting. I’ve moved my blog to the new Slicehost server. I should do a post on why web host one rocks and the other doesn’t. For the time being, I’m picking up the pieces. Plug-ins are outdated and other things look a bit fubared at the moment. The new theme Atahualpa is pretty useful

is Host Gator really lousy? I want to set up a website and I’m looking for a good host. Thanks.
Host Gator is OK for some basic simple cheap hosting. So is GoDaddy. I did have a DNS issue with them at one point which got me ruffled. A lot of the time it was just fine for my needs. In the end I was frustrated at the lack of control I had over the command line. For some people Host Gator, will be a great fit. They have a great CPanal GUI interface for those who are not comfortable with the command line. For others who are used to having complete (sudo) control over their server, SliceHost will be a better fit. These are two very different hosts. SliceHost is a Virtual Private server. You set up everything on your own. You are responsible for everything. HostGator does a lot of hand-holding with the GUI interface, but that takes away a lot of your privileges.
